Chicken Run Rescue Workday

Join us for a meaningful and hands-on day at Chicken Run Rescue, a sanctuary dedicated to giving these neglected, abused birds a safe home and the respect all animals deserve. This special workday is a chance to support the rescue's work while learning more about the resident birds and their stories. Connecting with these wonderful, resilient animals is a grounding, meaningful, and impactful experience. While Chicken Run Rescue's residents come from many varying backgrounds and have many different personalities, their stories give us a chance to see how their stories and lives were shaped by human systems of egg farming, meat farming, cockfighting, genetic manipulation, and more. Throughout the day, we'll do light and moderate work around the rescue, with breaks for snacks. Depending on needs at the time, we may be helping clean and maintain the space, preparing areas for the chickens, and supporting daily animal care operations. Some chickens are comfortable being picked up, and we may have the chance to take photos with our favorite birds! Looking for ways to help beyond the day? Fostering even one chicken can change a life, and choosing a plant-based diet is a powerful way to help all animals. As part of Veg Week -- a time to reflect, commit, and recommit to compassionate choices -- this event is open to everyone and a wonderful way to connect with other humans concerned about animal welfare, connect with animals, and help out in a concrete, immediate way.
