About this event
Grab some popcorn, find a cozy seat, and join Zoom to watch “Speciesism: The Movie” with CAA! “Speciesism” is an exploration both of our modern animal agriculture system and of an idea underlying it – that despite animals' complex wants, needs, abilities, and experiences, they have a fundamentally different moral and legal status because of what species they are.
The Zoom will open at six, and we will introduce ourselves with a fun activity. The movie will start around 6:10, and has a run time of 1hr 34min. After the movie ends, we’ll have a discussion in small groups about our impressions.

Later in the weekend, CAA is also collaborating with Community Documentary Night for a more in-depth discussion about the documentary. It will take place online on Sunday, January 7, 6pm-8pm CST and there will be a special guest speaker. Join this second discussion if you are able!
Reviews of “Speciesism: The Movie”:
“I don’t think anything like this has been done before – it is a must-see for […] anyone interested in philosophy, social justice, nutrition, medicine, and just about anything else! It is heartfelt, poignant, even funny at points, raw, and both sad and uplifting. [...] See it today – you won’t regret it.”
‐Gina, Washington, DC
“Wanted to write just to tell you how completely blown away I was by [the] film. It’s rare to find an ‘animal rights’ movie that is able to make you laugh while still covering all the major philosophical issues that surround speciesism. It’s a very approachable film…”
-Katie, Washington, DC
“There are no gruesome animal slaughter scenes… [This movie] makes the possibilities for the future endless and exciting. College kids, high school kids, and middle school kids will all relate very well to the style, presentation, and message of Speciesism.”
-Rima, Los Angeles, CA
