About this event
OVERVIEW
For women and non-binary people in animal advocacy seeking community, connection, and a space to be fully themselves.
For women and non-binary people in animal advocacy seeking community, connection, and a space to be fully themselves.
You care deeply. But who holds space for you?
As women in vegan and animal advocacy, we pour ourselves into the work — the campaigns, the conversations, the emotional weight of bearing witness. We show up for the animals, for the movement, for our communities.
But finding a space where we can be held — where we can speak honestly, be truly heard, and feel genuinely understood — that's rarer than it should be.
HERd is that space.
WHAT IS HERd?
HERd is a women's circle for those of us who live and breathe vegan and animal advocacy. A place to set down the armor, speak the unsaid, and find our people.
This is not a strategy session or a networking event. It's a space for the whole of you — the passionate, the tired, the hopeful, the struggling, and everything in between.
ABOUT THIS SESSION
The session runs 90 minutes and will be hosted in a small, intimate group with a strict container for safety and trust.
We invite you to join with cameras on, so that you and others can connect more easily. Please also note that late entry is not possible after the first 10 minutes, to protect the safety of the space.
We meet around a theme each time, so that we have a shared starting point. And we follow where the conversation leads from there.
The theme of this session is: recognizing our power and influence.
Civic educator Eric Liu identifies six types of advocacy power: political, economic, enforcement, network, moral, and cultural. How do we relate to these different types of power? Which do we feel most at home using, and which feel more out of reach? Why? What influence might we already have but not yet recognize?
THIS CIRCLE IS FOR YOU IF:
You identify as a woman or non-binary, are vegan, and are active in vegan or animal advocacy — whether you work in an org, run a business, volunteer, create content, or are just starting to discover your role in advocacy
You've ever felt like you can't fully be yourself, even among like-minded people
You're craving real connection — not just professional networking, but genuine human belonging
You want to be heard without immediately being offered advice, solutions, or silver linings
WHO IS FACILITATING?
HERd is co-facilitated by Amy Brink-Peterson and Ayelette Robinson. We are both women in the vegan and animal advocacy world who know firsthand what it means to need this kind of space — and couldn't find it. So we're building it together.
