About this event
We are pleased to have as our guest speaker tonight Alistair Currie from The Vegan Society.
Food supply disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have focussed minds everywhere - including in government - on how we ensure Britain has enough to eat. In tonight's presentation Alistair will discuss how animal-based foods and farming make us more vulnerable to food crises here in the UK and globally, and look at the role that plant-based diets and farming can play in making us more secure.
Alistair has been the Public Affairs and Policy manager at The Vegan Society since 2024. He has previously held campaigning roles in organisations such as PETA UK, Viva! and Cruelty-Free International and has been vegan since 1994.
Please connect at 6.55pm for a prompt start at 7pm.The formal part of the meeting will conclude at about 8pm, when some of us will stay online for an informal chat.
