About this event

Next Los Angeles Zoo protest: SUNDAY, Oct 25.from 10 to 12 noon.Zoos are businesses, and as such, they have various ways to increase ticket sales, such as offering discounts and group packages, holding themed events for holidays, throwing night-time music and drinking parties, and having babies. Creating new life is, of course, how species survive. And that is how zoos frame their breeding programmes, saying that they are helping ensure population numbers of endangered wild animals. But with one rarely openly stated caveat: most exotic animals bred in zoos will never see the wild; they will spend their entire existence in captivity. Pictured is the baby Western Lowland Gorilla born November 22, 2025, to mother N'djia, who was taken from her family at the San Diego Safari Park in 2018 and transferred to the LA Zoo. The zoo has not yet bothered to reveal the baby's gender or give them a name. Who knows why? Maybe so the public doesn't get attached to an animal who is a known someone before he or she mysteriously disappears? One thing is certain: if this baby grows to adulthood, he or she will never see the dense rainforests of Central Africa but rather will forever be locked up in a zoo. That's not conservation—that's business. If you don't believe our fellow earthlings should be locked up for human profit and entertainment, join us at the Los Angeles Zoo! Next protest: SUNDAY, Oct 25.from 10 to 12 noon.Whether you want to hold a sign, chant, do speakouts, take photos and videos, bang a drum, chalk, hand out flyers or talk to zoo goers, we have a place for you with our team! Flyers and posters are provided, but we welcome your own handmade signs as well. YES megaphones, NO talking to cops.
