About this event
Join us to celebrate compassionate, delicious eating this holiday season! Bring something truly special to the table this season with a festive plant-based menu:
- Orange-Coconut Sweet Potato Puree
- Wild Rice Stuffed Squash
- Pumpkin Bread Pudding (can easily be made gluten-free and/or soy-free)
An epicurean activist, Miyoko Schinner has worked tirelessly for over thirty years to reimagine a food system built on sustainability, equity, and compassion for animals. Her popular cookbooks, products, and thought leadership have inspired people across the globe to reconsider their food choices and take personal joy and responsibility in helping to participate in a better food system. Her lifelong compassion for farmed animal justice led her to found Rancho Compasión, a San Francisco Bay Area animal sanctuary and community campus.
Many of you may know her as the Innovator and Founder of Miyoko's Creamery, which put vegan artisan cheese and European-Style Butter on the map across North America and Australia. Miyoko currently co-teaches the curriculum Introduction to Plant-Centric Food Systems and Plant Futures at the University of California, Berkeley. You can check out more great recipes in the kitchen with Miyoko on The Vegan Good Life with Miyoko on YouTube.
In this photo, Miyoko is with Fred Astaire. Here's a sweet story about Fred and how he likes to dance, especially for the ladies! This is a great reminder to choose compassion on our plates! Every meal is a choice between cruelty and kindness.
