About this event

In Justify’s third webinar, a veterinarian, scientist, and animal care technician will come together for an honest conversation about what it means to be responsible for animals in research. Across their careers, they cared for, treated, studied, and made decisions affecting monkeys, mice, dogs, and other animals—each from a very different position within the laboratory. They will reflect on what that responsibility looked and felt like, how their perspectives changed over time, the moments that stayed with them, and the ethical and emotional questions that were not always easy to talk about while working in the field. These are perspectives the public rarely hears side by side and conversations people inside the field rarely have with one another. Together, their stories offer a chance to look more closely at care, responsibility, conflict, and what can happen when people begin asking difficult questions about the work they are part of. Featuring Danielle Fernandez, Dr. Garet Lahvis, and Dr. Kathy Strickland. Bios coming soon! Hosted by Justify CEO Lindsay Oliver and Executive Director Madeline Krasno, this conversation centers both animals and the people behind the experiments and why ethical science must protect both. As with our first webinar, much of this conversation will be guided by your questions. You're welcome to submit questions ahead of time, and you'll also be able to ask Danielle, Garet, and Kathy questions throughout the webinar using Zoom's Q&A feature.
