Minnesota has a significant population of livestock animals and a goal to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Leigh Currie, Impact Officer at the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA), will discuss how her state-based environmental legal organization is trying to tackle agricultural climate emissions in order to reconcile these two competing facts. Leigh Currie has a B.S. in environmental science and biology from Tufts University and an M.S. in conservation biology from the University of Minnesota. Leigh graduated salutatorian in 2006 from William Mitchell College of Law. In addition to her time at MCEA, Leigh has also clerked for the Minnesota Court of Appeals, practiced environmental law at a private firm, worked as an adjunct law professor, and served as a Special Assistant Attorney General at the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. State-level Climate Advocacy in America's Heartland is part of the Law, Environment & Animals Program at Yale Law School's Fall 2026 Speaker Series.
