About this event
Join us at Spectrum 8 Theatres for a free film screening of the documentary THE NEW GOLD STANDARD, hosted by the March to Abolish Animal Testing and sponsored by Humane World for Animals. The film shines a light on cutting-edge science and technologies that can eliminate animal testing and determine a new "gold standard."
This is a precursor event to the official March to Abolish Animal Testing, which will begin at West Capital Park in Albany on September 12th at 9 am. Marchers will embark on a 200-mile walk to Marshall BioResources, the country's largest lab animal breeding facility, where 16,000 beagles and 30,000 cats, ferrets, and pigs are trapped.
Everyone is welcome to attend the kickoff event and join for the whole walk or just part of the journey.
We'll watch the documentary together, then open the floor for conversation and questions with the director, as well as special guests Meredith Blanchard and Robert Hollocher from the National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS), one of the oldest organizations dedicated to ending the use of animals in research and testing.
