Consumers Against Broken Animal Welfare Promises at Baker's
Organized by The Humane League
Date and time
Sunday | July 12 2026 | 4:00 pm
About this event
Come and be part of one of the most American things you can be doing by legally protesting against Injustice. We will be on the public sidewalks surrounding Baker's grocery store holding signs, taking pictures & video, doing announcements and maybe some chants.
**NOTICE: weather related backup date will be Saturday July 18th 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
A decade ago The Kroger Company promised to go 100% cage-free by 2025, but has since backtracked on that promise and now only aims to be 70% cage-free by 2030.
Battery cages are so cruel that they have been banned in eleven states and condemned by scientists and animal welfare experts worldwide.
**Cage-free is the new industry standard.**
I mean think about it, how long could you leave a dog in a tight personal transport kennel before you consider it animal abuse?
Egg laying hens are forced to live in battery cages their entire shortened life span of one and a half years in these overcrowded cages, deprived of their natural behaviors, leading to stress, health issues, and severe suffering, even though chickens can have the lifespan of 8 to 12 years in ideal environments. The amount of personal space each chicken is allowed is less than the size of an iPad!
### We're at a critical juncture in the fight to end cruel cages.
✊ How many more generations of individual hens will suffer in extreme confinement in battery cages? Together we can show the egg industry that we're a force to be reckoned with.
✨ Bring a snack or a drink and join animal friendly people, and The Humane League (THL) volunteers for this 60-90 minute protest.
⏰ **This an in person event begins at 3pm Central**
