About this event

Join us for a fascinating discussion of the queer joys of biodiversity featuring Isaias Hernandez, Elijah Paz, and stories about queer animals at VINE Sanctuary! Isaias Hernandez is an environmentalist, educator, and writer devoted to improving environmental literacy through content creation, storytelling, and public engagements. Isaias is more commonly known by his moniker, Queer Brown Vegan: the independent media platform he started to bring intersectional environmental education to all. His journey to deconstruct complex issues, while centering diversity and authenticity, has resonated with a worldwide audience. Elijah Paez is an environmental educator centering multispecies justice and community-oriented discourse. An avid birder, he considers the Pacific Northwest his home and intellectual lodestone. Although Elijah counts sheep several times a day as part of VINE’s animal care team, any consequent sleepiness is negated by a household shared with two outspoken cats, Camas and Nae Nae. Ducks and emus are only some of the queer animals at VINE Sanctuary, an LGBTQ-led refuge for farmed animals that also serves as a wildlife preserve. Visit vinesanctuary.org to learn more. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. This event is part of VINE's annual Pride Month Vegan Challenge. Visit RainbowVegan.org to learn more.
