About this event

If you love to read and discuss books—especially books related to helping animals—this group is for you! The book we will be discussing in June is The Gift of Kindness: Inspiring True Stories of Rescued Farm Animals by Pam Ahern. From the book's description: "Some stories change your life, some events change your life, but a single act of kindness can save a life. Meet Ruby the working dog who got a second chance and found her perfect job, and Macho the orphan alpaca who found happiness among his sheepy friends. Then there's Edgar Alan Pig, Ginger the chirping chicken, Lucky Bunny, Othello the goat, Coco the duckling, Miss Marple the cow...and many more. These heartwarming stories provide a glimpse into a world where the smallest kindness can have a great ripple effect, and where animals bring out the best in people." Pam Ahern is the founder and director of Edgar's Mission, a not-for-profit sanctuary that provides a safe haven for over 250 rescue animals. Pam was a finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards, Local Hero section, for her work as an animal rights activist. The UUAM Book Group meets the second Friday of each month. Our June meeting to discuss TheGift of Kindness will be on June 12 at 4 pm ET, 3 pm CT, 2 pm MT, 1 pm PT.
