Helsinki Animal Law Conference 2026: “Reimagining Justice Across Species”

We are pleased to announce the annual conference of the Helsinki Animal Law Centre in collaboration with the Legacy and Rebound projects. The conference will be held in Helsinki on June 9-10, 2026, with Tom Regan Memorial Lecture delivered on June 8. The registration fee is 180€, with a reduced fee of 110€ for PhD candidates and students. The registration fee includes lunches, coffee, and the conference dinner. Registration has ended. In 2018, the (CAF) inaugurated the to honor the life and thought of philosopher, animal advocate, and CAF co-founder Tom Regan. This year, the eighth lecture will be celebrated in Helsinki, in collaboration with the Helsinki Animal Law Centre, on June 8th at 5:00 pm at Maijansali. The lecture will be streamed. The lecture will be delivered by Visa Kurki (Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Helsinki). The title of his presentation is From Unnecessary Suffering to Utopia: Animal Law Between Realism and Idealism. Angela Fernandez (University of Toronto), Silvina Pezzetta (CONICET Argentina), Eva Bernet Kempers (University of Antwerp), and Werner Scholtz (University of Southampton) will act as respondents.
