About this event
We talk about the families tragically separated by war and migration, but what about the animal families that are routinely separated by agriculture and development? How does paying attention to animal families change our choices about how we eat?
Join us for a conversation and Q&A with author Beth Berkowitz to discuss her new book, What Animals Teach Us About Families: Kinship and Species in the Bible and Rabbinic Literature.
In this session, we will read the four “animal family” laws of the Torah alongside their rabbinic interpreters from ancient times to today.
