Unpoison Our World

Join us on World Wildlife Day – 3rd March – to say ‘UNPOISON OUR WORLD!’ The UK is in the midst of an ecological crisis. We have lost much of our biodiversity, with many species having already gone extinct and many others at imminent risk. Having poisons and toxins that are designed to kill on sale to the general public is horrendously destructive and wholly irresponsible. These chemicals leech into the soil and the water table. All the poisons are inherently cruel, causing extreme suffering. And they are indiscriminate, often with multiple victims. Wildlife suffers. Companion animals suffer. The whole of the natural world suffers. We are saying that this is unacceptable - we simply cannot continue to poison our world. Join this action by going into a Garden Centre or DIY store, visiting the poison aisle, and sharing the message that poisoning our world and wildlife must stop. There are many ways you can do this, but the basic idea is to: *Empty the shelves of toxins by putting them in a trolley *Put up posters showing how harmful they are (even just a biohazard symbol would be effective) *Have conversations with staff and members of the public *Hand out leaflets giving information This action can be your own; it's very fluid, and you can do whatever you feel comfortable with. Whatever you choose to do, please take pictures/footage and share on social media using the hashtag #UnpoisonOurWorld Other ideas: *Wearing hazmat suits *Wearing a costume of a species of wildlife, such as a rat *Using biohazard tape *Full sit-ins *A simple selfie next to the poison aisle with some messaging There is no right or wrong way of carrying out this action, no minimum or maximum numbers, no exact template - we just want to get the conversation opened so we get these destructive and cruel substances off the shelves.
