Rodenticides, body gripping traps, and glue traps are sadly the most common form of mouse and rat management. These cause suffering to all animals. Outdoor use is illegal and the presence of dead animals is illegal. Please expand the outdoor ban on poison and lethal traps to a ban everywhere. Rodents and other animals can be managed without killing. www.rodenticidefree.ca. But bylaws are being changed to consider many animals “vermin”.
The definition of sanitary uses the term “unwanted animals”. 4.2.1(2) says dead animals can not be in a dwelling. 4.2.1(9) says “vermin, rodents, insects, or visible mold”. The comma between vermin and rodents legally states rodents are not vermin. But the term “vermin” is negative and vague. Sadly this term would encompass all non rodent or insect fauna. Please use the term “wildlife/faune” instead of “vermin/vermine” in the bylaw. Develop a legal definition under BEAC 175 for wildlife/faune. And sign this petition. https://www.change.org/p/protect-wildlife-in-beaconsfield-from-harmful-building-bylaws
