About this event

Please join local PETA supporters to pack the room as the Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) Board of Directors votes on a resolution that could bring OHSU one step closer to ending its experiments on monkeys. WHEN: Monday, February 9th at 9:30am Meet on the main floor at 9:30am and the group will go to the meeting room together before it starts at 10am WHERE: Robertson Life Sciences Building (RLSB) (main floor)2730 S. Moody Ave., Portland, OR 97201 (please see this map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qUG8vWnjatb288U49) CONTACT: Amanda Brody at AmandaB@peta.org Please dress sharply in a nice shirt, black slacks, and close-toed shoes. We must ensure that the focus remains on the animals without any distractions that could shift people’s attention. T-shirts for the meeting will be given out on-site for free. The end of experiments at Oregon Health & Science University’s National Primate Research Center is in sight! On Wednesday, February 4, the Board of Directors released a resolution that, if passed, will authorize OHSU President Shereef Elnahal to work with the National Institute of Health to develop a plan to stop harming the monkeys and turn the facility into a modern sanctuary. The resolution also directs the primate center to stop breeding monkeys and its experimenters to stop applying for any new funding for studies involving monkeys. It’s important for the Board to see how many compassionate people support their bold efforts to consider this monumental shift! We hope you will join us for this historic moment in animal rights!
