Humane Hoax Online Conference 2026
Tuesday, March 17
10:00 – 12:30 pm PT

Join us to uncover the facts behind “humane” labels, marketing myths, and fabrications in farming animals.
Faced with mounting cultural criticism of animal farming for food products, manufacturers, consumers, and even some animal advocates are increasingly turning to so-called “humane” labels and marketing strategies. These labels, phrases, slogans, and imagery are found on a wide range of animal products, from large facilities with thousands of animals to “backyard” operations. However, commodification, exploitation, and killing are prevalent in all animal farming methods.
While humanewashing is often associated with misleading labels and marketing, for this year’s conference we will explore the broader narrative in animal advocacy, examining the critical influence of language in shaping perceptions of harm and justification. By acknowledging the limitations and consequences of prevalent narratives, we can develop innovative frameworks that normalize veganism and stress the ethical imperative of ending animal exploitation. We will explore the humane hoax with a critical eye and challenge this growing trend.
Presentations:
Narratives of Truth and Liberation with Lia Wilbourn, In Defense of Animal Protection
Can We Farm Kind? with Dr. Faraz Harsini, Allied Scholars for Animal
Making Injustice Acceptable: How Welfare-Washing Normalizes Harm with Laila Kassam PhD, Project Phoenix
Please join us on March 17, 2026 for this inspiring event as we explore this urgent and necessary conversation of The Humane Hoax.
