About this event

The fur trade is in steep decline, with fur farming now banned in a growing number of jurisdictions. This reflects growing concern by the public over the inherent cruelty of caging foxes, minks, wolves, and other wildlife in tiny, barren cages on fur farms before brutally killing and skinning them for their fur. Not only does fur farming cause indefensible animal suffering, it poses serious risks to human health and pollutes the environment. Despite fur farms being banned in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Italy, and most recently Poland, this cruel and outdated industry still operates in Canada. It’s time for this to change. Some of the top leaders in the movement to ban fur farms will be gathering for this dynamic and action-oriented panel, including:- Lesley Fox: Executive Director of The Fur-Bearers- Rebecca Loviconi: Director of the award-winning documentary “Slay”- Alanna Devine: Director of Advocacy at Animal Justice- Dr. Sara Dubois: Biologist and Senior Director of Animal Welfare Science & Standards at BC SPCA-Hosted by: Animal Justice’s Kimberly Carroll We’ll cover:- Current efforts to push federal and provincial governments to ban fur farming- The lawsuit Animal Justice and The Fur-Bearers have launched against the Quebec government over fur farms- The public health dangers linked to fur farming- Lessons from countries that have already banned the practice- The role of the fashion industry in moving away from fur- What you can do to end fur farming Join this strategic session to help make fur farms history in Canada.
