About this event
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY! Join us for a Foie Gras protest against a restaurant (TBA) that sells this disgusting product. We will be meeting at the Animal Rights Center PROMPTLY at 5pm to go over the plan. From there, we will carpool to the protest location. This protest will be completely legal and nonviolent.
All protest materials will be provided, but please bring warm clothes and drinking water. After the protest, we can go out for dinner as a group at a nearby vegan restaurant. Please message us with any questions about the event.
Approximate Schedule (FRIDAY & SATURDAY):
5pm -- Meet at ARC 6pm -- Protest 8pm -- Dinner
Foie gras production is extremely cruel and its sale has been banned in California, Pittsburgh, and over a dozen countries. Production involves shoving a metal tube down the throats of ducks and geese and force feeding them calorie-dense food (known as gavage) multiple times a day for up to a month. Birds are confined to wire cages that are too small for them to turn around, leading to injuries and the spread of disease. Ultimately, the result is grotesque swelling of the liver (up to 10 times the normal size) and abdomen that would lead to death if feeding continued. This product does not belong in our city, state, or world as a whole.
