About this event

Join us for a lively and interactive conversation on the importance of community-building for animal liberation. Learn practical strategies for building your own community from two passionate panelists who will share their experiences organizing grassroots efforts and inspiring others to take action! About the panelists: Surajan Shrestha (he/him) Surajan is a vegan and animal justice advocate from Nepal with over 13 years of experience in the movement. He began his journey in high school by co-founding the Animal Rights Club in Chitwan and has since dedicated his life to advancing animal well-being through grassroots activism, community engagement, and advocate training. As the Country Director for Animal Alliance Asia in Nepal, Surajan leads initiatives that empower local communities and nurture the next generation of animal advocates. He also co-founded a vegan restaurant in Chitwan, serving as a hub for collaboration, plant-based promotion, and local activism. Known for his compassion and collaborative leadership, Surajan continues to inspire and mentor emerging advocates, fostering resilient communities for animals and people alike. Haru Lev (he/him) Haru is a hitchhiker living on the road, sharing his films and spoken word music to rebuild connections and solidarity between different struggles, and across various communities. He is a member of the global artist collective PLAGAMI, challenging capitalism, imperialism, and colonialism—systems that enable animal massacres.
