About this event

πŸ¦Šβ€οΈπŸ“’βœŠ Join local activists for the annual Fur Free Friday protest in Portland! This is part of a global campaign to put the pressure on LVMH to STOP SELLING FUR! 🀩 All are welcome including newbies! πŸ—“ Friday, November 28th ⏰ 12-1:30pm πŸ“ Louis Vuitton Portland - Meet at the corner of SW 4th and Yamhill. 🦊 Fur Free Friday was founded in 1986 on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the busiest shopping day of the year. Back then, every large department store had a fur department, and there were multiple fur salon stores in downtown Portland. Now, thanks to the relentless pressure of activists like YOU, there are no stores in Portland that sell new fur. However, luxury brand Louis Vuitton, which LVMH owns, still sells fur online, at fashion shows, and in some shops outside of Portland. ‼️This is a fully escalated campaign, meaning that every effort has been made behind the scenes to convince LVMH to stop selling fur, but they continue to do so. They need to hear, loudly, that selling fur in 2025 is unacceptable! 🚨 This protest will involve megaphones and chanting. *Free earplugs will be provided for all attendees* For anyone wanting to be distanced from the noise, please let an organizer know, and you can chalk anti-fur messages on the sidewalk down the block. πŸ“’ All materials, including signs, chalk, and free earplugs, will be provided. You are encouraged to make your own posters and please BRING A MEGAPHONE IF YOU HAVE ONE. 🚌 There are nearby bus and MAX stops. Plan your trip at trimet.org 🚘 Carpooling is always encouraged. There is paid street parking and lots nearby. 🀝 By attending this event, you are agreeing to the Animal Rights Collective Portland (ARCPDX) Community Guidelines: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10gu2vfndaJW58nt4LJeGx6qsZJcEXTYEqcn8wPGDBCI/edit?usp=sharing
