About this event

On November 18 (it's the third Tuesday in Nov.) we'll discuss "I Could Never Go Vegan," a 97-minute documentary directed by Thomas Pickering (2024). To find a copy, check your library--Denver Public Library and Douglas County Libraries have copies to borrow--or rent it on Amazon or AppleTV. You need not have attended a previous discussion to join us for this one. We'll discuss the film until about 8:00, followed by open conversation. The Zoom link to the discussion is posted on the right, visible to those who RSVP. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LINK DISAPPEARS AT THE MEETUP START TIME, THAT IS, 7:00 PM. We'll be available from 6:50 on to help anyone who might need extra time to connect. If you can't get on, call us at 303-300-2368. We hope you can join us! If you'd like to read ahead: Dec. - No meeting Jan. 27, 2026 - How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy, by Jenny Odell Feb. 24 - Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting (fiction), by Clare Pooley March 24 - Fluke: Chance, Chaos, and Why Everything We Do Matters, by Brian Klaas ----------------------------------- Tom Pickering has never eaten meat and believes he's been doing right by the animals, his own health, and more recently the planet. Despite this, he still can't go a day without hearing from others why they could never go vegan. So, Tom sets out to investigate the many reasons he's heard over the years, and see if they're unjustified, or whether his upbringing was one big plant-based con. Watch the trailer here.
