About this event

Beyond the Plate: A Jesuit’s Testimony on Faith, Veganism, and Community This is the first interview in our new series, Beyond the Plate, where we'll explore how faith and food intersect. (Stay tuned for our next interview just before Christmas!) About the Interview: This Thanksgiving, our sanctuary is holding its very first 'Thankful Hearts and Hooves Pay It Forward Thanksliving Dinner.' This special event is a vegan meal, designed so that those who can afford it can pay it forward to someone who cannot. It's a way for us to explore how we can act with greater compassion and love for both our human neighbors and all of God's creatures, all while honoring God's animals with a vegan feast. To celebrate this compassionate community dinner, Tracy Murphy, our founder (and who also happens to be a Christian!) will be interviewing Daniel Mascarenhas, a Jesuit studying to be a Catholic priest and a dedicated vegan. Daniel was a former engineer who found his calling in the Society of Jesus and is a passionate advocate for both faith and a compassionate lifestyle. Through his work with The Jesuit Post and VeganCatholic.org, he has explored how God's love extends to all His creatures, humans and animals alike. His unique journey shows us that what we eat can be a spiritual practice that deepens our connection to God and our community. We look forward to sharing this insightful conversation with you all. Please mark your calendars and invite your friends to join us!
