Kristen Stilt's presentation on 'What Can a Healthy Environment Do for Animal Rights?' In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Talking Animals, Law & Philosophy series presents a year-long programme of distinguished speakers. Join us for our third event in this exciting programme, organised by the Cambridge Centre for Animal Rights Law. Kristen Stilt, Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and Faculty Director of the Animal Law and Policy Program, will deliver a talk on '.What Can a Healthy Environment Do for Animal Rights?'. The event will take place on Thursday, 4th December, 5-6.30pm (UK time) on Zoom. About the Speaker: Kristen A Stilt is Professor of Law at Harvard Law School where she is also Faculty Director of the Brooks McCormick Jr. Animal Law & Policy Program, and Faculty Director of the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World. Prior to joining to Harvard, she was Harry R Horrow Professor in International Law at Northwestern Law School and Professor of History at Northwestern University. Stilt’s research focuses on Islamic law and animal law, where she has recently explored the relationship between animal rights and rights of nature. She was named a Carnegie Scholar for her work on constitutional Islam, and in 2013 was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. She has also obtained awards from Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays. Stilt received a JD from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was an associate editor of the Texas Law Review and co-editor-in-chief of the Texas Journal of Women in the Law.
