ATTENTION ALL ANIMAL LOVERS You are invited to a double header END CRUEL CAGES GLOBALLY Protest Day, because egg-laying hens trapped in cages in factory farms NEVER get a break. FIRST DISRUPTION OF THE DAY (at 1pm): Best Western Hotels at the Aiden Dragon Gate Inn in DTLA. Join The Humane League as we defend egg-laying hens and fight to ban battery cages. Best Western has made a promise in 2019 to go 100% cage-free at every location across the globe for all egg products that they serve by 2025. For nearly six years, Best Western remained silent. Only after relentless work from activists, Best Western released partial progress reporting for the first time ever, which includes figures and percentages for Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Best Western's update is missing progress figures for Africa and a clear plan to address regions where cage-free supply may not yet be at scale. Full transparency means reporting progress for every region where they operate. Best Western does not have a credit statement included as well, which is the standard for companies facing supply challenges and is vital to show how they will meet this fully cage-free pledge in harder-to-source regions. The language of this update remains vague and does not provide clarity on their current sourcing and a clear plan of how they intend to fulfill their global cage-free egg commitment by the end of 2025. They stated that their sources are “using cage-free eggs” isn’t enough. We need confirmation that locations are exclusively using cage-free eggs. 🗣️ Come join the movement! Megaphones are encouraged.
