About this event

Filmmaker Fern Levit follows her success with Sled Dogs with this remarkable, groundbreaking documentary that uncovers the dark truth about elephants in zoos. Lucy's heartbreaking story takes center stage. She has been confined for decades in the Edmonton Valley Zoo, enduring the freezing climate of Northern Canada for 47 years, all alone for the last 11 years. Levit's film will enlighten and inspire action to end this cruelty endured by so many elephants, including Billy and Tina from the Los Angeles Zoo, who were heartlessly and clandestinely shipped to the Tulsa Zoo instead of to sanctuary, where for 20 years activists and celebrities have advocated for them to go. Levit also showcases a zoo that has evolved into an Eco Park, providing a progressive, humane path forward. The film is free, but donations to support In Defense of Animals work for elephants are gratefully accepted. Q&A with the filmmaker and In Defense of Animals president Dr. Marilyn Kroplick follows the screening of the film. Watch the trailer at the link below.
