Cross-Border Rally Against Riverview Mega-Dairies

Join us for a united, cross-border day of action against the planned Riverview mega-dairies in North Dakota. These industrial facilities—one set to house 25,000 cows and the other 12,500—threaten to devastate our environment and cause immense suffering on animals. These facilities would house 37,500 animals—quadrupling the dairy cattle population in North Dakota. Together, organizations and concerned citizens in Manitoba and North Dakota will rally to oppose this dangerous expansion of factory farming. Why we’re speaking out: Environmental Impact: Mega-dairies produce massive amounts of manure and methane, polluting local waterways, degrading air quality, and contributing significantly to the climate crisis. These operations are planned near the Red River, a shared waterway along the Minnesota and North Dakota border into Manitoba, and emptying into Lake Winnipeg. Lake Winnipeg is already heavily polluted and struggling under the strain of local pig farming. Animal Cruelty: Life inside a mega-dairy is horrific. Cows are confined, often on hard surfaces without pasture access, forcibly impregnated, and separated from their calves. Their short lives end once their milk production drops, and they suffer immensely. This is not just a local issue—it’s an international one. Industrial-scale dairies affect all of us, rural communities, urban life, animals, and ecosystems. We need to fight back.
