About this event
Come sketch with us at the National Portrait Gallery! We'll spend the first hour walking through the collections, gathering inspiration. Then we'll head to the tables in the Kogod Courtyard to draw, eat lunch and chat.
You'll need to bring your own art materials such as paper, a sketchbook, pencil(s), pen(s), small watercolor set, brushes, water, etc. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch or choose from the extremely limited vegan options at the attached Courtyard Cafe. There are also a number of vegan-friendly fast casual restaurants a block away in Chinatown, including HipCityVeg. The Gallery allows outside food and drink to be consumed in the Kogod Courtyard.
All skill levels are encouraged to attend, whether you're a sketching newbie or a seasoned artist. I guarantee we all have something to learn from each other! Only service animals that are trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability are welcome in Smithsonian Institution properties unless the dog poses a direct threat, is not housebroken, or is not under the control of the owner.
Bathroom Facilities/Water: Restroom facilities and water fountains are available throughout the National Portrait Gallery. Weather: This event will take place rain or shine. Update Your RSVP Promptly as your schedule changes.
With VSDC membership, you will save money at area restaurants and businesses, attend VSDC member-only events, and, most importantly, support us as a clear and consistent voice for improving the lives of all beings through community building and education centered on the benefits of a vegan diet and lifestyle.
