About this event
UPDATE: KTLA has confirmed that it is coming to cover the vigil, so it's vital we get a strong attendance! This is our chance to let the sellers of Manning Beef know to sell to someone who wants to use the land for something other than being LA's last remaining cow slaughterhouse.
Please register your attendance on the Facebook invite below.
Manning Beef is Bankrupt!
Please join organizations, Animal Outlook and Animal Alliance Network, as we co-host a vigil in honor of slain animal rights activist, Regan Russell, who was killed when a slaughterhouse transport truck ran over her while she was outside of Fearmans Pork in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on June 19th, 2020.
This vigil is also aimed to bring awareness to the public of the prospective plans to sell Manning Beef slaughterhouse. We hope to have a presence at this location to get press coverage as we make a plea to discourage the next owner against continuing the slaughterhouse operation by seeing we won't stop until the killing ends.
When: Friday June 20th, 7-9 p.m.
Where: Manning Beef, 9531 Beverly Rd, Pico Rivera, CA 90660
More information:
As Manning Beef’s financial advisor seeks to sell the struggling slaughterhouse, activists plan a cow vigil to show the public there is no need to salvage a business that profits off of killing. . The planned sale of the 3.74-acre site valued at around $21 million, is part of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding which began in late 2024. The animal protection advocates’ hope is that any future buyer will decide to shut down the notorious slaughterhouse and use the land for other purposes that do not involve other animals
