But at what cost to workers, local communities, the environment and climate change? This CRILS Online Workshop will explore different tactics adopted by communities, activists and advocates to build legal defenses against the expansion of CAFOs in Mexico based on human rights approaches and the USA based on litigation approaches. Drawing on the legal battles, feminist political ecology, and community-led resistance movements in different jurisdictions, Karen Hudlet Vazquez (Independent Researcher, Mexico) and Daina Bray (Law, Environment and Animals Programme, Yale University, USA) will present their research and experiences of resisting industrial modes of animal agriculture.
