About this event

The Shedd Aquarium currently imprisons Beluga Whales and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins. These incredibly social, intelligent beings are being enslaved and exploited for profit, and will likely never know the natural life they were meant to live. Empty the Tanks is NOT a radical movement demanding the release of all captive marine mammals into the wild. Some of these animals might be great candidates for release, but those that are not should be retired into sea pens, where they can enjoy the rest of their days in natural seawater, feeling the waves of the ocean around them. They should not be used until their last breath is taken and then thrown out like trash and replaced. Please join us at the Shedd Aquarium for the 13th Annual Empty The Tanks Worldwide Event! This annual event allows activists all over the world to reach the general public in a positive and productive way, educating them about what captivity means to cetaceans. We look forward to a peaceful and productive event! We encourage you to bring your own signs, but some signs will be provided.
