Virtual Action Meetup: Protect Animals in the Farm Bill!

Corporate interests are pushing hard to reverse animal welfare progress, but together, we can stand firm to protect progress for millions of animals! Join us for a virtual call, where we will focus our actions on defeating dangerous legislation. Changemaker Erica will be leading this call and share her experience contacting and meeting with legislators to protect animals in the Farm Bill and important legislation like California's Prop 12. The Food Security & Farm Protection Act (FSFPA) poses a severe threat to decades of hard-fought progress for animal welfare. This dangerous legislation—essentially EATS Act 2.0—would strip away state and local laws that ban cruel farming practices, particularly impacting corporate campaigns to end intensive confinement for farmed animals. If passed, this legislation would nullify existing state laws that protect millions of egg-laying hens, mother pigs, and calves from the horrors of intensive confinement. Consider the story of what happened in California after Proposition 12 was implemented: companies were finally required to provide cage-free housing for hens, dramatically improving welfare for millions of birds. The Food Security & Farm Protection Act would reverse this progress overnight, condemning these hens back to lives of extreme suffering in barren wire cages.
