About this event
Come celebrate 50 years of the U.S. animal rights movement at a historic event on Saturday, August 2nd at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Two crucial events launched the U.S. animal rights movement in 1975: Peter Singer published Animal Liberation, introducing animal rights to the American public, and Jay and Freya Dinshah arranged the World Vegetarian Congress, restoring vegetarianism in America. On Saturday, August 2, we will be celebrating the golden anniversary of these historic events, as well as five decades of the animal rights movement that evolved. The celebration will be held in our nation’s capital at the prestigious National Press Club.
