About this event

RSVP HERE: dxe.io/la Animal cruelty investigator Zoe Rosenberg is facing years in prison for rescuing four sick chickens from a Perdue slaughterhouse in Sonoma County, California. She made sure the chickens, Poppy, Aster, Ivy, and Azalea, got the veterinary care they needed. Now, Zoe is being forced to wear a GPS ankle monitor and follow other strict pre-trial release requirements. Her trial starts May 16th. For years, investigators with Direct Action Everywhere have been exposing criminal animal cruelty and rampant disease at factory farms in Sonoma County, including Petaluma Poultry, a subsidiary of poultry giant Perdue. Instead of prosecuting these companies, the Sonoma County District Attorney has gone after the whistleblowers and animal rescuers. In 2023, they took animal rescuer Wayne Hsiung to trial. He was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 90 days in jail for his role in nonviolent open rescues at factory farms. On the very same day of Wayne's sentencing hearing, members of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department arrested three more animal rescuers, including Zoe, on felony warrants. Of those arrested, Zoe is the only one currently being prosecuted. They seem determined to make an example out of her to scare concerned members of the public. Sonoma County is escalating its fight against animal rescue, but we know rescuing animals is not a crime. Come hear from Zoe about her current felony case and the fight for the right to rescue in Los Angeles on February 22nd at 1:30 pm. The talk will be at The Activist Kitchen, 669 N. Heliotrope Dr, East Hollywood. While the talk starts at 1:30, folks can come hang out as early as 11:30 AM. There will be vendors serving vegan food starting by noon! RSVPs are not strictly required but are greatly appreciated. RSVP here: dxe.io/la Thanks and see you there!
