The next Tule Elk Town Hall (#4) could be called, Park Wars. Activists and the National Park Service have finally united on the Jedi front, to free the Tule elk of Point Reyes National Seashore. And the Cattle Empire is Striking Back, to keep wild elk imprisoned, like their victimized beef and dairy cows. The Seashore’s largest herd of Tule elk finally tasted some freedom — after 46 years of being trapped inside a fenced “Reserve.” The Park Service announced its Final Decision on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, the end of a 1.5-year bureaucratic process and announced it would dismantle the deadly, 8-foot-tall, Tule Elk Reserve fence. Work began the next day. But then the day after that, the California Cattlemen’s Association filed a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in court to stop the Park Service from finally doing this right thing by the elk.
