About this event

UPDATE: The meeting has been moved online. Message if you would like to speak during the comment period and we will provide a script. TY! Please join local PETA supporters and fellow Animal Rights Collective Portland (ARCPDX) activists to protest Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) during its Board of Directors Meeting for its continued mutilation of live animals in their obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) residency training program! Doctors-in-training at OHSU use live pigs as human stand-ins to practice surgeries as part of the school’s OB/GYN residency program, according to disturbing public records obtained by PETA. We are urging OHSU to switch to suitable simulators instead. Non-animal human simulators are available, in use by other institutions, and have proved to be more cost-effective and efficient, while accurately modeling human anatomy and physiology. In medicine, lifesaving decisions must often be made within seconds, so familiarity with human anatomical structures is crucial. Pigs and other animals cannot accurately mimic human anatomy. For more information and ways to take action please see: https://support.peta.org/page/49389/action/1 Please join us in urging OHSU to put an end to cruel OB/GYN training drills on animals now!
