About this event
You’re invited to explore Georgetown’s gems, such as the Exorcist House, Georgetown Waterfront Park, the Aqueduct Footbridge, and Cady’s Alley, followed by happy hour @ Sandlot Georgetown; you’re welcome to bring friends and family; you’re welcome to bring friends and family 😊
The following groups, which I also organize, will accompany us:
Meetup.com/Veggie
Meetup.com/CityWalk
Facebook.com/groups/CityWalks
Meeting location : Sandlot Georgetown, 2715 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20007; this is an outdoors bar, i.e ., there’s no roof. After the hike, you’re all invited to join our happy hour @ Sandlot Georgetown. If you feel hungry, there’s George’s King of Falafel across the street – they have great falafel and are open until 2 AM!

Happy Hour : When you’re ordering food, please tell the attendant about your dietary restrictions: https://georgesdc.com/menu/

Your expectation : Our walk will be 4 miles long on hilly terrain at a moderate pace, so that we can enjoy the scenery; we’ll probably make 3 or 4 stops to take photos and appreciate scenic points on the route; there’s some bare soil in the trails, so you want to wear tennis shoes.
Metro : Foggy Bottom (Blue and Orange lines), which is a 12-minute walk to our meeting location, based on Google maps.
Parking : 3000 K St. NW; 1050 Thomas Jefferson St. NW; 950 24th St. NW.
We’re different from other groups : You may keep your RSVP marked as “attending” with us, even if you’re not sure. We start on time, but we don’t need an exact headcount. The events you marked as “attending” on Meetup.com are a lot easier to find, open, and get directions to, which may come in handy if your schedule frees up in the last minute and you can join our adventure 😊
FAQ 1 : What if I don’t know anyone else in the group? Answer: you are super-welcome, our group is very receptive, and many of our members did not know anyone else when they first joined.
FAQ 2 : Do I have to be a vegetarian to belong to this group? Answer: we hold happy hours at places which offer vegan options; however, order whatever you want: you don’t have to be a vegetarian or a vegan in order to be our friend.
Best practices : You may want to wear sunscreen; your shoes may get dirty because there may be parts with exposed soil; I recommend wearing tennis shoes and not wearing slippers or sandals; I don’t recommend carrying a heavy bag; and “power walking” or out-pacing the group is a bad idea, because we’ve already had a few slips and trips-and-falls.
Dogs : Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome at the time I’m writing this; to be extra safe, please look for pet policy signs at the entrance of Rose Park.
Weather : The weather forecast tends to exaggerate, so we don’t easily cancel; our rainy hikes were fun! Please don’t post comments about the weather. I will follow up with the weather forecast and make a decision if necessary.
Questions? If you have a question for your Organizer, I’m pretty busy during the week, so I’ll try to combine your answer with last-minute reminders, so please bear with me until we get closer to the event’s date and time.
