About this event

We have an exciting weekend planned with a variety of events and opportunities to connect folks who care about animals and want to make a difference. We’ll be welcoming special guest, Jake Conroy, aka The Cranky Vegan! You’re welcome to attend whatever events you choose but we highly encourage you to join us Sunday for Jake’s workshop, “Tools for Change” to learn about different strategies and tactics on how to be an effective activist! This page shares a loose idea of what to expect - please check back as more details will be shared including links for sign-up. If you’re not already connected with us on Slack, please join: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLScl_2L5s.../viewform... We will be working on carpool options as well. SCHEDULE Saturday July 20th: 9:00 AM - Noon Volunteer Sanctuary work day at Farmaste (FULL! For first dibs on events be sure to join us on Slack.) Sanctuaries are incredibly important as they provide a safe haven for animals where they live free from exploitation and receive the love and care that they deserve. Operating a sanctuary is a LOT of work and volunteers are incredibly important. We’ll clean the barn stalls along with any other miscellaneous tasks that need done and afterwards we will get an opportunity to spend time with the animals. There will be 15 spots available! 2:00 - 4:00 PM SeaQuest Protest SeaQuest is an interactive aquarium and petting zoo that we’re campaigning against with the goal of shutting them down and getting the animals released to qualified sanctuaries. Be sure to follow our “Sink SeaQuest Roseville” page on Facebook. 4:30 - 6:00 PM Dinner at Francis Burger Joint Meet-up event posted soon - first people to RSVP will be able to attend and then a waiting list will be created. Sunday July 21st: Please send an email to Ashley at ashleyr@animalrightscoalition.com with the subject "RSVP" by Friday July 19th to attend. Please state if you'd like to attend just the film, just the workshop, or both. Folks who attend both will receive lunch on ARC but are also welcome to bring their own lunch and/or items to share. (Vegan-friendly only.) 11:00 - 1:00 PM The Animal People film Location given once you RSVP We’ll follow the screening with a Q&A with Jake Conroy, one of the political prisoners from the film. 1:00 - 2:00 PM Lunch at the same location. If you're attending the film AND the workshop, you will receive lunch on ARC 2:00 - 6:00 PM Tools for Change Interactive Workshop Same location as the film - given upon RSVP Jake will go over how to organize a strategic campaign to help us become more effective in our advocacy. Snacks will be provided but you’re welcome to bring something to share. Please invite anyone that you think may be interested! We'd love to bring in a nice crowd for our guest who is traveling to be here! The only cost to attendees if your meal if you're attending the dine-out on Saturday .
