About this event
Join the Veggie Mijas Book Club on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 3PM EST to discuss this month's read, “Veganism in an Oppressive World: A Vegans-of-Color Community Project” edited by: Julia Feliz Brueck. Veganism in an Oppressive World is a collection of academic essays, personal reflections, and poetry critically examining the state of the mainstream nonhuman animal rights movement while imparting crucial perspective on how to build a movement that is inclusive, consistent, and effective. It highlights the challenges of vegans-of-color seeking justice for humans alongside our fellow animals, and what is needed to broaden the scope of veganism beyond its current status as a “single- issue” movement. This is a BIPOC-centered event open to all cities. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to veggiemijasbookclub@gmail.com. We look forward to connecting with you all as we work together to decolonize our lives.
