Where do you fit into the big animalag picture?

In June’s free Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning meeting we’ll look at the bigger picture of industrial animal food production with Rachel Mason, an experienced researcher who specializes in complex problems. Industrial food animal production (IFAP) is an end-to-end system, driven by the profit motive and embedded in a culture that supports and legitimizes it. Thinking about the 'big picture' can be daunting, but it also helps to illuminate the many ways in which we can intervene in the system. It invites us to consider how we might collaborate, coordinate, and strategize for maximum effect. To do that effectively, we’ll need to get very good at Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning: understanding how our interventions are working both alone and in combination, and how they are affecting the system. Rachel will describe this system-focused approach in more depth, discuss some of its pros and cons, share her thoughts about a possible future 'Movement Observatory' that could support a coordinated opposition to IFAP. Every month The Mission Motor organizes discussions and lectures on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning for animal and vegan advocacy charities. We talk about challenges, share knowledge, and develop a community around MEL-related topics specifically to helping animals. After each session, we will share the presentation and a recap of the discussion in #s-mel channel of IAA Slack. The sessions are not recorded to create a safe space for sharing and asking questions.
