About this event

Vegan Studies Initiative Monthly Speaker Series Toward a Plant-Based Food System with Jan Dutkiewicz A growing scientific consensus points to the need to shift to a predominantly plant-based diet in the interests of planetary and public health. But why exactly? And what should and could a plant-based food system look like? What are some of its challenges and drawbacks? This talk sketches out the big science and social science questions around large-scale shifts in food production and consumption and sketches out the contours of what a more sustainable food system might look like. Jan Dutkiewicz is Assistant Professor in the School of Social Science and Cultural Studies at the Pratt Institute and a Contributing Writer at Vox. He has written about the politics of food for The New Republic, The Guardian, The Washington Post, WIRED, and The Wall Street Journal. Be sure to register for this free event today!
