About this event

Join fellow Animal Rights Collective Portland (ARCPDX) activists and PETA supporters to speak up for aquatic animals for World Day for the End of Fishing (March 30th) & World Aquatic Animal Day (April 3rd) at the Beaverton Farmers Market. We will be educating the public on how amazing our sentient sea creatures friends are, how they can get more involved in protecting them (2025 Oregon Octopus Farming Ban!), and the incredible plant-based fish options now available to consumers. It is estimated that over 55 billion sea animals are killed for U.S. consumption alone, more than all other animals killed COMBINED. Without any legal protection from cruel treatment and testing, these intelligent, complex animals are impaled, crushed, suffocated, cut open, gutted, and horrifically tested on, all while still conscious. Saturday, March 30th 11:30am-1:30pm - Feel free to come for the entire 2 hours or for whatever period works with your schedule. Beaverton Farmers Market - We will be at the northeast corner of Beaverton City Park (southeast corner of the farmers market), next to the light and crosswalk on Hall Blvd, across from the Beaverton City Library. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. This is a drop-in event. Feel free to come for the entire 2 hours or for as long as you can at any time between 11:30am-1:30pm. 2. This outdoor event is rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. 3. All materials such as posters and leaflets will be provided by the organizer. MORE ABOUT WORLD DAY FOR THE END OF FISHING (WoDEF): WoDEF - World Day for the End of Fishing and Fish Farming calls for the abolition of fishing and aquaculture farms on the last Saturday of March. Fishes, crustaceans, and cephalopods are at the heart of WoDEF's concerns, since they constitute the biggest proportion of animals killed by humans, amounting to thousands of billions of victims each year. https://end-of-fishing.org/en/ MORE ABOUT WORLD AQUATIC ANIMAL DAY (WAAD): World Aquatic Animal Day is an annual day dedicated to aquatic animals.
