INTERNATIONAL LAWS IMPACTING FARMED ANIMALS IN INDIA, NIGERIA AND THE US

Farmed animals in India: Rajesh Reddy Rajesh K. Reddy directs the Animal Law Program at the Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis & Clark Law School, where he teaches International Animal Law, Animal Legal Philosophy, and an Emerging Topics in Animal Law course focused on the protection of insects, among other courses. Outside of Lewis & Clark, Raj sits on the boards of Minding Animals International, World Animal Protection, and the International Coalition for Animal Protection. Farmed animals in Nigeria: Mo Esan Mo Esan is an animal law attorney practicing in the United States and Nigeria. She holds an Animal Law LLM from Lewis & Clark Law School and an LLM in Public International Law from Babcock University, Nigeria. She is the founder of Green Thumb Initiative (GTI), a nonprofit aimed at improving animal welfare standards and promoting sustainable environmental standards in Nigeria. She serves as secretary of the Animal Law Commission Working Group of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA), and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Animal Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. Farmed animals in the United States: Cynthia von Schlichten Cynthia von Schlichten is the General Counsel for Farm Sanctuary, Inc., a U.S.-based animal rights nonprofit. She holds an LLM in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School where she serves as an adjunct professor for the Center for Animal Law Studies. Cynthia is a regular speaker on animal rights issues, presenting most recently at the 2023 International Animal Rights Conference in Luxembourg. For over 20 years, she has been a dedicated participant in the animal rights movement. Cynthia is also a member of the American Bar Association's Animal Law Committee and the Animals in Agriculture subcommittee, and she co-chairs the International Animal Law subcommittee.
