About this event
Spicy, rich, flavorful and diverse are terms that are frequently used to describe Indian food. All these words do well in describing Indian cuisine, for it is diverse in variety and taste, and is made up from a wide array of regional cuisines throughout various parts of India. Uncover the secrets of mouthwatering Indian cuisine with a special emphasis on the techniques that bring maximum flavor from a whole range of spices.
Chef Nico is excited to bring you this class to learn some basics of cooking Indian cuisine. You will be making two items: a homemade fresh garlic Naan Bread along with Butter “Chicken” (using soy curls). Butter “Chicken” is traditionally known as murgh makhanii, an Indian dish which is a type of curry with a spiced tomato and brown butter sauce. Its sauce is known for its rich texture. In the 1950's, the curry was made "by chance" by mixing leftover tandoori chicken in a tomato gravy, rich in butter. In 1974, a recipe was published for "Murgh makhanii (Tandoori chicken cooked in butter and tomato sauce)". Butter chicken is the most famous Indian recipe outside of India. We are going to pair this dish with traditional Indian naan bread. This bread is soft, chewy and delicious and made with fresh garlic and butter that will set an aroma in the air like no other. These two items combined will be a meal you won’t forget.
**This is a hands-on class. Each person will have their own station to learn alongside with Chef Nico. You can eat or take your creation afterwards. An electronic recipe & instruction card is emailed to you within 72-hours after the conclusion of the class.**
