Volunteer Day

Spend the Saturday after Thanksgiving helping turkeys and other animals at VINE Sanctuary. Get to know Max the alpaca, Tiki the emu, and other members of our multispecies community while lending your energy to our winter preparations. Your labors will be rewarded with vegan snacks with sanctuary staff, and you will also be welcome to join an "afterparty" hike to our extensive back pastures, where a hardy herd of cows have their own community. FAQs Can I arrive anytime during the event? We ask that you arrive within 15 minutes of the start time, so that you will hear the essential safety messages at the beginning of the event. What should I wear? Wear warm work clothes and sturdy boots or shoes, understanding that you might get muddy. Bring work gloves and a water bottle. What will we be doing? We have several winter-preparation projects to which volunteers will be assigned depending on interests and abilities. Are teens welcome? Teens are welcome but must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian. Contact us in advance for the form if you will be coming without your parent or guardian. Are children welcome? Children aged 6 to 12 are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please notify us in advance if you will be bringing a child, so that we can be sure to have something age-appropriate for them to do. We regret that the terrain of the sanctuary, where large animals roam unconstrained by fences, is not suitable for younger children. Can I bring anything? Animals at the sanctuary love fruits and vegetables of all kinds. If you wish to bring vegan snacks for the party portion of the program, that would be wonderful too! What are the COVID precautions? This is an outdoor event at which it will be possible for you to remain distant from others. We will have masks on hand for you to wear if you will be working in close conjunction with someone outside of your household.
