About this event
Many Voices. One Mission. Health For All. Plant Powered Metro New York is leading a movement for health, empowering people across the region with the knowledge, tools, and support to feel great and prevent and treat chronic disease. Our third annual Plantathon celebration raises essential funds for our mission through 10 inspiring events taking place between November 13-28! What’s one of the most powerful ways to keep arteries and blood pressure healthy? Eating mostly whole plant foods! In this live virtual event with Love.Life Telehealth physicians Kim Scheuer, MD , and Colin Zhu, DO , we’ll explore food’s role in treating vascular health issues and hypertension — through both science and a live demo! Hailing from Colorado and California respectively, Dr. Scheuer and Dr. Zhu are both board-certified in family medicine and lifestyle medicine. While searching for a way to decrease her risk of cancer which is prevalent in her family, Dr. Scheuer read Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s book The China Study , and now she de-prescribes medications and helps her patients become “younger every year” by adopting healthier lifestyle choices. Passionate about the intersection of medicine, food, and nutrition, Dr. Zhu (“The Chef Doc”) trained as a chef and a health coach at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts following the completion of his medical degree. Plantathon raises essential funds to support Plant Powered Metro New York’s core mission. While all virtual events are accessible at no cost, we encourage you to make a donation! All donations through the end of the year are matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000.
