The 2023 Compassion Arts Festival

CAF’s sister organization Compassion Arts is hosting its annual festival online November 8–12, featuring many CAF grantees. Artist Jane O’Hara (2017) will showcase her “State of the Union” series on November 8, and LA Watson (2008, 2010) will join Art Animal Affect’s Kathryn Eddy and Janell O’Rourke for their exhibition “Other Nations.” Filmmaker Jusep Moreno (2022, 2023) will discuss his documentary “When Pigs Escape” with Lisa Levinson (2008–2011). On November 9, writers including Linnea Ryshke (whose painting "Cleaved" is depicted above), Jennifer Calkins (2023), Gretchen Primack, and others will read original poems and prose that celebrate more-than-human lives. Patricia Denys (2018), the editor of Animal Culture magazine, will receive the Artists for Ahimsa award on November 11.
