Vegan Cheese Giveaway & Outreach at The Wedge Cheese Festival

Join PETA and Animal Rights Collective Portland (ARCPDX) outside The Wedge Cheese Festival for a vegan cheese giveaway! We will be passing out FREE vegan Babybels while reminding attendees that consuming animal dairy is terrible for human consumption, the planet, and animals. Why support one of the most egregious sectors of animal agriculture when we have access to a wide variety of delicious vegan cheeses at nearly every grocery store? Like all mammals, cows only produce milk after giving birth. In order to steal their milk for human consumption, mother cows are repeatedly forcefully impregnated and their babies are ripped from them within hours of being born. This cycle continues until the mother cows are deemed "spent" at which time they are sent to slaughter, at just 5-6 years old (cows can live 15-20 years). The dairy industry has no use for male calves, so they're either sold for beef, sent to veal facilities, or shot shortly after they're born. The females are isolated and fed formula until they are old enough to be forcefully impregnated themselves. End the cruelty by not supporting this horrific industry and putting pressure on governments to end subsidies and bailouts of animal agriculture.
