FOIA 101 Training

About this event: How to craft public records requests and use research tools to support investigations. 1 hour Mobile eTicket Why should journalists leverage the power of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for their research? Explore the possibilities in MuckRock's FOIA 101 training. This workshop is designed to break down FOIA, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of prior knowledge. This session aims to teach journalists how to turn an inquiry into an effective public records request. Dillon Berger, Data Reporter at MuckRock, will guide us through how to use MuckRock as a research tool and provide you with the skills necessary for crafting impactful information inquiries. There will be a live Q&A session at the end of the presentation. As a bonus, all ticket-holders will receive a recording of the session, enabling you to revisit the content whenever it suits you. Dillon was a member of the Documenting COVID-19 team, a project funded by MuckRock and the Brown Institute for Media Innovation.
